Chemical Peels: What to Expect

Book Here

At Skin Refined Aesthetics in Erie, CO, chemical peels are thoughtfully customized using a curated collection of advanced formulations from KrX, Pfect-A, Linder Health, and GlyMed.

These are not harsh, outdated treatments. I specialize in modern resurfacing methods — including no-peel peels that renew and brighten without visible flaking, as well as targeted corrective peels designed to improve acne, pigmentation, texture, and collagen support.

Spicule peels, such as the Green Sea Peel, use marine-derived spicules to stimulate deeper renewal and collagen production. This treatment does involve noticeable shedding for several days as the skin goes through an intentional regeneration process. It’s best suited for clients ready for visible peeling and a more intensive reset.

Every peel is selected based on your skin’s condition and barrier health, with the goal of creating long-term strength, clarity, and refinement.

Questions Answered

What’s the difference between a “no-peel peel” and a traditional peel?

Traditional peels rely on surface exfoliation that often causes visible shedding. “No-peel” peels work deeper within the skin using gentle acids and active ingredients that stimulate renewal on a cellular level without flaking or downtime. You still get the same smoothing, brightening benefits, just in a more skin-friendly way.

Are chemical peels safe for sensitive skin?

Yes. Every peel at Skin Refined Aesthetics is customized to your skin type and tolerance. Options like the KrX Mela Cold Peel or Glow Peel are specifically designed for reactive, sensitive, or barrier-compromised skin.

What should I expect after my peel?

Most clients experience mild tightness or dryness for a few days. With some peels (like the Green Sea Peel), light flaking can occur as the skin renews. You’ll leave with a simple post-care routine and hydration plan to support your glow.

How often can I get a chemical peel?

Peels can be performed every 2–4 weeks depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and treatment plan. Regular maintenance peels every few months help sustain your glow and prevent buildup of dull, dead cells.

What is a spicule (Green Sea) peel?

Spicule peels use natural micro-spicules from marine sponges to gently stimulate the skin. They work like a microscopic massage that boosts collagen, improves texture, and increases product absorption. Some clients experience light shedding for a few days, while others notice only a soft, refreshed glow.

How should I prepare my skin before a peel?

Avoid exfoliating acids, retinol, or scrubs for 3–5 days before your appointment. Keep your skin hydrated and protected with SPF. Please let me know if you’ve had any recent procedures, waxing, or sun exposure so we can plan accordingly.

How long until I see results?

You’ll notice a fresh, brighter glow within a week. Over the next 2–4 weeks, cell turnover increases, and skin looks smoother, firmer, and more even. A series of 3–5 treatments provides the most transformative results.

Can I combine a peel with other treatments?

Some peels can be safely combined with other modalities, like LED Light Therapy, Nano Infusion, or Facial Sculpting, and microneedling.  However, this depends on the type and level of peel performed. Deeper resurfacing treatments are best done on their own to avoid overstimulation. During your consultation, I’ll recommend the best approach for your skin’s current condition and goals.
